Ray Sigworth was born on July 21st, 1971 and grew up in Deerfield, Ohio. He graduated from Southeast High School in 1989. He attended Portage Community Chapel his sophomore, junior and senior years of high school. Upon his high school graduation, he attended Baldwin-Wallace University in Berea, Ohio and majored in Mathematics and Secondary Education and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1993. While at B-W he was also on the varsity wrestling team.
Upon graduating from B-W, Ray was hired as a math teacher, football coach and wrestling coach at St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio where he worked until 1999. He was then hired by his alma mater and taught math at Southeast High School for 23 years.
Ray and his wife, Kristi, married in June of 1997. His daughter, Laura, and son, Joey, were wonderful additions to their family in 2001 and 2006 respectively.
The Sigworth family has been attending PCC since 1999. During this time, Ray and Kristi have been youth leaders, taught adult ABF, been on church leadership and served in other various ministries. In 2019, Ray was led to follow God’s calling for him to pursue the pastorate. Since then, he has been attending Trinity Theological Seminary and College of the Bible working toward his Master of Divinity degree majoring in Pastoral Studies. In March of 2022, the amazing people of PCC voted to affirm Ray as their new Lead Pastor.

Zach Coblentz came on staff August of 2022 as the Youth Ministry Intern at Portage Community Chapel and graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Next Generation Ministries in December of 2023. Zach has a passion for God and sharing the good news of Christ with students. He was raised in church and loves to study the Bible. Youth ministry has been a desire of Zach’s for a long time and having the opportunity to guide students toward Christ at PCC is truly an honor of his.
Laura Wunderle has been serving as the Children’s Ministry Director at Portage Community Chapel since 2015. Prior to working in children’s ministry, she taught in the Ravenna School District and also spent time teaching oversees. She graduated from Hiram College with a degree in early childhood education. Laura and her husband Matthew have been married since 2008 and have three children: Adelina, Emma, and Bennett.
Brenda loves serving at PCC and being part of a church family that is passionate about Jesus and people. She has been married to her husband, Jason, since 2008, and together they are raising their son, Logan, who keeps life fun and full.
Brenda cares deeply about helping people feel seen, welcomed, and connected. Whether through creativity, communication, or behind-the-scenes details, she desires to reflect God’s love in practical ways and encourage others to grow in their relationship with Him.
When she’s not at church, you’ll likely find her spending time with her family, on the lake, coaching SEMS soccer or cheering Logan on in his many sporting activities.
She is grateful for the opportunity to serve and grow alongside the PCC community.
Beth has always lived and worked in Portage County, Ohio. She grew up attending Kent Church of the Brethren, where she was baptized at age 12.
After graduating from Field High School in 1985, she attended, and graduated from, Kent State University in 1991.
Beth enjoyed 31 years as an inspector for Portage County Health District before retiring in 2023.
She married the love of her life, Ken Ahrens, in 1993. She and Ken have resided in Ravenna Township since 1995.
Dan serves at PCC through IT and maintenance, helping care for the building and technology that supports all the ministries each week. He is married to his wife, Robin, and together they have twin sons. Dan enjoys serving behind the scenes and being part of a church community focused on people and growing in faith together.
